Part 3 – My Husband Grounded Me in Front of His Family—By Morning, I Was Gone, and His Attorney Asked, “What Exactly Did You Do to Her?”

Part 3

Martin produced another page.

“This terminates Helen’s personal guarantee on the revolving credit facility supporting Richard’s company.”

Richard’s expression changed.

“You can’t just do that.”

“She can. The agreement permits withdrawal with written notice.”

Martin checked his watch.

“Effective at 9:00 this morning.”

Richard grabbed his phone.

His company’s finance director had already called six times.

He dialed immediately.

The call lasted less than a minute.

When it ended, Richard’s hand trembled.

“What happened?” Tyler asked.

Richard remained silent.

Martin answered instead.

“The bank suspended further draws.”

Tyler’s smile finally vanished.

Richard looked at Martin.

He was telling the truth.

I had rented an apartment across town whose location only my attorney knew.

For the next three weeks, Richard tried everything.

We’re married. You can’t just walk away.

I never responded emotionally.

Every communication went through Martin.

Meanwhile, my accountant discovered what I had long suspected but couldn’t prove.

Richard had been using company funds to pay Tyler’s personal expenses.

Even a $22,000 transfer marked “marketing consultation.”

Tyler had never worked for the company.

Six weeks later, Richard finally saw me again.

We met in a conference room.

Martin sat beside me.

Richard arrived with Tyler and his own attorney.

Richard appeared ten years older.

Tyler still attempted arrogance.

It wasn’t convincing anymore.

Richard sat opposite me.

His attorney spoke first.

“We would prefer an amicable resolution.”

Richard leaned toward me.

“This has gone far enough.”

“Destroying my company. Throwing Tyler out. Humiliating the family.”

The confidence behind those words was almost impressive.

“I didn’t destroy your company.”

“You pulled the guarantee.”

“You knew what would happen.”

“I knew what could happen if your company depended on my personal assets forever.”

Tyler slammed his hand onto the table.

“You’re doing all this because of one argument?”
